The key word for the Tigers this week was “first place.” (Note: Events covered April 3-8)

Boys Track

It was a banner day for the Tigers on Saturday in Iowa City where ADM placed second among a competitive crowd of 10 other schools. Keeping the team high up on the scoreboard, the Tigers secured two seats at the Drake Relays in two weeks.

With a time of 42.40 seconds, the 4x100 relay team of Aiden Flora, Grant Rychnovsky, Zach Lohmann and Brevin Doll put the entire state on notice. Not only did that put them in the Drake Relays, but they set a new school record while defeating last year’s reigning 4A champ Iowa City (which peaked at 41.89 seconds in 2023). ADM is currently tied with Dowling Catholic for the top time in the state and is the top seed among 3A schools.

On his own, Flora pushed his way to second place at 10.88 seconds in the 100-meter dash. With Doll hitting 10.84 just days prior in Van Meter, the Tigers have two of the top three times in 3A as of writing.

ADM's shuttle hurdle relay team competes during an invite on Thursday, April 4, 2024, in Van Meter.

Also making an impact on his own, Lohmann took first prize Thursday in Van Meter with a top time of 15.13 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles. He along with Keaton Kier, Luke Krantz and Joseph Kitzinger scored a Blue Standard time in the shuttle hurdle relay with a new PR of 1:00.76. Currently third in their class, the relay crew is within a second of the top time thus far and beat last year’s fourth place mark at the state meet.

While the team’s most recognized names continue to contribute, the Tigers also showed great signs for the future on Monday as the Tigers’ 9/10 grade team placed second at Valley’s and was just three points behind Waukee. They beat out perennial contenders Waukee Northwest, Valley and Ankeny Centennial among invited nine metro teams.

Girls Track

Spending Thursday evening down the road in Van Meter, the Tigers booked their first team win of the season, beating out the likes of the Bulldogs, Winterset and Ames.

ADM's Allie Eggleston competes in the 3,000-meter run during an invite on Thursday, April 4, 2024, in Van Meter.

Dominating in the field events, the Tigers claimed first prize in the shot put (Kennedy Stanford, 37-foot-2), long jump (Aniston Tollari, 17-foot-1) and high jump (London Warmuth, 5-foot-5). Allie Eggleston continues to show out as well, as the freshman took first place in the 3,000-meter run at 11:39.45.

Boys Soccer (5-1)

In what could be a crucial matchup for conference title hopes, the Tigers fell 3-0 on Monday as hosts to Gilbert (5-0) for the team’s first loss of the year.

Prior to that, the Tigers had a successful two-day tournament on Friday and Saturday where they outscored their three opponents by a total of 8-1. Through the first two weeks of the season, Peyton Meier leads the team with six goals.
